[9:114] And (Wa) Abraham (Ib'raahiima) did (Kaana) not (Maa) seek forgiveness (Es'tag'faaru) for (Li) his 
father (Abii-hi) except (illa) for (Ån) a promise (*60:4) (Maw'edatin) which he (Abraham) had promised (WaÃĨda-
haa) him (Iyyaahu); but (Fa) when (Lammaa) it became clear (Tabayyana) to him (Lahu) that he (the father)
(Annahu) was an enemy (Åduwwun) to GOD (Lillahi), he (Abraham) cleared from him (Tabarra'a Min'hu). Indeed (Inna), Abraham (Ib'raahiima) was (La) appealing (Awwaahu) and clement (Haliim).

📍Verse/Note:
9:114 Abraham asked forgiveness for his father because of a promise that he had made. The promise was based on the hope that his father would mend his ways. When it was made clear to him that his father was a persistent opponent of God's commands, he desisted from asking forgiveness for him. Abraham was kind-hearted, clement. [*14:41, *19:47](sa).

[9:115] And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is (Kaana) not (Maa) to (Li) misguide (Yudilla) a people (Qaw'ma) after 
(Ba'da) when (Iz') HE has guided them (*3:8) (Hadaa-hum') until (Hattaa) HE makes clear (Yubayyina) to them 
(Lahum) what (Maa) they should beware of (Yattaquuna). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is aware of (Åliim Bi) all 
(Kulli) things (Shai'in).

Allah describes His Honorable Self and just judgment in that He does not lead a people astray but after the Message comes to them, so that the proof is established against them.

For instance, Allah said,

[9:116] Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is the one to whom belongs (Lahu) the dominion (Mul'ku) of the heavens 
(Es'Samaawaati) and the earth (Wal' Ar'di); HE gives life (Yuh'yii) and (Wa) causes death (Yamiitu). And (Wa)
you have (Lakum) no (Maa Min) guardian (Waliyyin) nor (Walaa) helper (Nasiiri) besides GOD (Min' 
Duuni-llahi).

[9:117] GOD (Ellahu) has certainly (Laqad) forgiven (Taaba Ålaa) the Prophet (En'Nabiyyi) as well as (Wa)
the emigrants (El'Muhaajiriina) and the supporters (Wal' An'soari) who (Ellaziina) followed him (Ettabauu-
hu) during (Fii) the time (Saa'ÃĨti) of hardship (El'Us'rati) after (Min Ba'di) the hearts (Quluubu) of some (Maa) group (Fariiqin) among them (Min'hum') almost (Kaada) deviated (Yaziigu); yet (Thumma) HE forgave 
them (Taaba Ålai'him'). Indeed, HE (Innahu) is to them (Bihim'), Kind (Rauufun) and Merciful (Rahiim).

9:117 God turned in kindness to the Prophet, the emigrants and those who hosted them. They followed him in difficult times after the hearts of some of them had nearly wavered. Then He turned to them in kindness. He is Compassionate, Merciful to them.sa.

[9:118] Also (Wa) upon (Ålaa) the three (Etthalaathati) who (Ellaziina) stayed behind (Khullifu') until 
(Hattaa) when (Izaa) the earth (El'Ar'du) became straitened for them (Doaqat' Ålai'him') in what (Bimaa) had 
been spacious (Rahubat') and (Wa) their souls (Anfusu-hum') became straitened for them (Doaqat' Ålai'him')
and (Wa) they assumed (Zonnuu') that (An) there was no (Laa) refuge (Mal'jaa'a) against GOD (Minallahi), 
except (illaa) to HIM (ilai'hi); yet (Thumma) HE forgave them (Taaba Ålai'him') so that (Li) they might repent 
(Yatuubuu'). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is (Huwa) the COMPASSIONATE (Et' Tawwaabu), the MERCIFUL (Er' Rahiim).

📍Verse/Note:
9:118 And (God also turned in compassion) to the three men who had stayed behind. The earth, despite all its vastness, had become narrow for them, and they became extremely despondent. They realized with certainty that there is no refuge from God other than a return to Him. Then He turned to them in mercy so that they return to the right way. God is Acceptor of repentance, Merciful.
