20:118 Behold, it is provided for thee that thou shalt not hunger here or feel naked.

Note.
Lit., "be naked": but in view of the statement in verse 20:121 (as well as in 7:22) to the effect that only after their fall from grace did Adam and Eve become "conscious of their nakedness", it is but logical to assume that the words "that thou shalt not ... be naked" have a spiritual significance, implying that man, in his original state of innocence, would not feel naked despite all absence of clothing. (For the deeper implications of this allegory, see on 7:20.)

✍️Verse/Note:
20:120 But Satan whispered unto him, saying: "O Adam! Shall I lead thee to the tree of life eternal; and [thus] to a kingdom that will never decay?"

Note.
This symbolic tree is designated in the Bible as "the tree of life" and "the tree of knowledge of good and evil" (Genesis ii, 9), while in the above Qur'anic account Satan speaks of it as "the tree of life eternal (al-khuld)". Seeing that Adam and Eve did not achieve immortality despite their tasting the forbidden fruit, it is obvious that Satan's suggestion was, as it always is, deceptive. On the other hand, ✔️the Qur'an tells us nothing about the real nature of that "tree" beyond pointing out that it was Satan who described it- falsely - as "the tree of immortality": and so we may assume that the forbidden tree is simply an allegory of the limits which the Creator has set to man's desires and actions: limits beyond which he may not go without offending against his own, God-willed nature. Man's desire for immortality on earth implies a wishful denial of death and resurrection, and thus of the ultimate reality of what the Qur'an describes as "the hereafter" or "the life to come" (al-akhirah). This desire is intimately connected with Satan's insinuation that it is within man's reach to become the master of "a kingdom that will never decay": in other words, to become "free" of all limitations and thus, in the last resort, of the very concept of God-the only concept which endows human life with real meaning and purpose.(as).

✍️Verse/Note:
What was the Forbidden Tree? Not of ‘knowledge’, nor of ‘immortality’ as per the Bible. It is the Tree that branches off people based upon selfish desires. The early human beings started marking up lands and hoarding. They also saw their children as a means of attaining immortality. So, this very earth which was a Paradise for them to begin with, became a place where they had to continuously toil and often exploit one another to earn a living – a Paradise lost!

(Note:
Note here the multiple plural ‘all of you’ confirming that Adam and his wife are allegorical terms for the humankind. Incidentally, the word ‘Eve’ is nowhere mentioned in the Qur’an, once again Adam denoting humankind. Khauf = Fear from without. Huzn = Intrinsic depression or grief = Unhappiness = Regret).
.
✍️Note:
The human body survives by taking air, food, drink etc. By its very nature it is lustful, greedy,
selfish, gluttonous and avaricious. The Self fights an ongoing battle with the Ego - its negative aspect which seeks to fulfil the material and physical desires - in its endeavour to be munificent and realise its potential and develop, it seeks to be benevolent, philanthropic, generous, giving
and eager for self-sacrifice. Both are in a constant battle and it is the strong willed Self that
creates a balance between the two. With self-discipline underpinned by Permanent Values it sets
its Self on a straight and balanced path avoiding all that is detrimental and anything that causes
lasting harm. To win this conflict is a great victory and achievement and a feeling of satisfaction of
having moved towards fulfilling one's potential. See verses 25:43; 26:98.(sig).

Lit., "Is it, then, no guidance for them how many a generation. . .", etc. It is to be borne in mind that, in Qur'anic usage, the noun qarn signifies not only "a generation", but also - and rather more often-"people belonging to one particular epoch", i.e., "a civilization" in the historical sense of this term.(as).
.
đŸŸĸWORD BY WORD MEANING:
[20:116] And (Wa) when (Iz') We said (Qul'naa) to the Angels (Lil' Malaaikati), "Prostrate (Es'judu') to (Li)
Adam (2:34) (Aadama)," and (Fa) they prostrated (Sajaduu'), except (illaa) Lucifer (Ib'liisa); he refused (Abaa).

[20:117] So (Fa) We said (Qul'naa), "O (Yaa) Adam (Aadamu), indeed (Inna) this (Haaza) is an enemy
(Åduwwun) to you (Adam)
(Laka) and (Wa) to (Li) your mate (f) (Ziw'ji-ka). Therefore (Fa) do not let him evict
you both (Yukh'rijannakumaa) from (Mina) the garden (El'Jannati), then (Fa) you would suffer (Tash'qaa).

[20:118] "Indeed (Inna), for you (Laka) is no (Alla) hunger (TajuuÃĨ) therein (Fiiha) nor (Walaa) nudity (Ta'raa).

[20:119] "And (Wa) that you (Adam)
(Annaka) will not (Laa) be thirsty (Taz'mau') therein (Fiiha) nor (Walaa)
be in the heat (sun)
(Tad'haa)."

[20:120] But (Fa) the devil (Es'Shai'toanu) whispered (Was'wasa) to him (ilai'hi); he said (Qaala), "O (Yaa)
Adam (Aadamu), shall (Hal') I direct you (Adullu-ka) to (Ålaa) the tree of eternity (tree of life) (Shajaratil' Khul'di)
and (Wa) a dominion (Mul'kin) without (Laa) deterioration (Yab'laa)?”

[20:121] Thus (Fa), they ate (Akalaa) from it (Min'ha), so (Fa) their bodies (shame) (Saw'aatu-humaa) appeared
(Badat') to them both (Lahumaa), and (Wa) they immediately began (Tofiqaa) to cover themselves
(Yukh'sifaani Ålai'himaa) with (Min) the leaves (Waraqi) of the garden (El'Jannati). So (Wa) Adam (Aadamu)
disobeyed (Åsoa) his LORD (Rabba-hu) and (Fa) strayed (Gawaa).

[20:122] But (Thumma) his LORD (Rabbu-hu) chose him (Ej'tabaa-hu) and (Fa) forgave him (2:37) (Taaba
Ålai'hi) and (Wa) guided (Hadaa).

[20:123] HE (God) said (Qaala), "Descend (Eh'bitoa) therefrom (Min'haa), all together (JamiiÃĨn); as enemies
(Åduwwun) to (Li) each other (Ba'du-kum’ Ba'din). And (Fa) when (Immaa) guidance (Hudan) comes to you
(Ya'tiyannakum) from ME (Minnii), then (Fa) whoever (Mani) follows (EttabaÃĨ) MY guidance (2:38) (Hudaaya),
thence (Fa) he will not (Laa) go astray (Yadillu) nor (Walaa) suffer (Yash'qaa).

[20:124] And (Wa) whoever (Man') turns away from (A'rado Ån) MY remembrance (43:36) (Zik'rii), then (Fa)
indeed (Inna), he will have (Lahu) a miserable (Donkaan) life (Maeeshatan), and We will assemble him
(Nah'shuru-hu) blind (A'maa) on the Day of Resurrection (Yaw'mal' Qiyaamati).

[20:125] He (the human) will say (Qaala), "LORD (Rabbi), why (Lima) did you assemble me (Hashar'tanii) blind
(A'maa) while (Wa) I have (Qad') been (-Kuntu) seeing (a seer) (Basiiraa)?"

[20:126] HE (God) will say (Qaala), "Thus (Kazaalika) did Our verses (Aayaatu-naa) come to you (Atat'ka), but
(Fa) you forgot them (Nasiita-ha); and (Wa) likewise (Kazaalika) will you be forgotten (Tunsaa) today
(El'Yaw'ma)."

[20:127] And (Wa) thus (Kazaalika) will We requite (Naj'zii) whoever (Man') transgressed (As'rafa) and
(Wa) did not (Lam') believe (Yu'min) in (Bi) the verses (Aayaati) of his LORD (Rabbi-hi). And (Wa) the (La)
punishment (Åzaabu) of the hereafter (El'Aakhirati) is severer (Ashaddu) and more lasting (Ab'qaa).

[20:128] Has it then not (Afalam') pointed to them (Yah'di Lahum') how many (Kam') of (Mina) the
generations (El'Quruuni) We have annihilated (Ah'lak'naa) before them (Qab'lahum) as they walk
(Yam'shuuna) in (Fii) their houses (Masaakini-him')? Indeed (Inna), there are (La) signs (Aayaatin) in (Fii)
that (Zaalika) for (Li) those (Uulii) of intellect (En'Nuhaa).
