⬛Introduction:

This chapter opens and ends by referring to the history of the Israelites, who, after attaining to greatness, were twice punished for their misdeeds. It begins with a mention "أَسْرَ". It then warns Muslims of the fate which befell the Israelites, as the same fate was to befall them. Then it goes on to deal with the following subjects: every deed must have a consequence, the moral teachings Muslims must follow to do good deeds, opposition to the truth and to the righteous, and its defeat by the truth — that “truth” being the Holy Prophet himself who is the “spirit of truth” prophesied in the Gospel of John — the Quran being a miracle, and, finally, Moses’ warning to Pharaoh, a warning like it now being given by the Quran to its opponents. This chapter was revealed in the early period at Makkah, around the fifth year of the Holy Prophet’s mission.

 سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَىٰ بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ

পৱিত্ৰ মহিমাময় তেওঁ, যিজনে তেওঁৰ বান্দাক ৰাতিৰ ভিতৰতে ভ্ৰমণ কৰাইছে, আল-মাছজিদুল হাৰামৰ পৰা আল-মাছজিদুল আক্বছালৈ, যাৰ কেউফালে আমি বৰকত প্ৰদান কৰিছো, যাতে আমি তেওঁক আমাৰ নিদৰ্শন✈️ দেখুৱাব পাৰো; নিশ্চয় তেওঁ সৰ্বশ্ৰোতা, সৰ্বদ্ৰষ্টা।

وَآتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَجَعَلْنَاهُ هُدًى لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَلَّا تَتَّخِذُوا مِنْ دُونِي وَكِيلًا

আৰু আমি মূছাক কিতাব প্ৰদান কৰিছিলো আৰু সেইখনক আমি বনী ইছৰাঈলৰ বাবে পথনিৰ্দেশক কৰি দিছিলো। যাতে তোমালোকে মোৰ বাহিৰে আন কাকো কৰ্মবিধায়কৰূপে গ্ৰহণ নকৰা।

🟦১৭:৩

ذُرِّيَّةَ مَنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا

তেওঁলোকৰ বংশধৰ! যিসকলক আমি নূহৰ লগত আৰোহণ কৰাইছিলো; নিশ্চয় তেওঁ আছিল পৰম কৃতজ্ঞ বান্দা।

17:3 O you descendants of those whom We caused to be borne (in the ark) with Noah! Behold, he was a most grateful servant (of Ours)!"(as).

🟦১৭:৪

وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَىٰ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي الْكِتَابِ لَتُفْسِدُنَّ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَتَعْلُنَّ عُلُوًّا كَبِيرًا

আৰু আমি কিতাবত বনী ইছৰাঈলক জনাই দিছিলো যে, ‘অৱশ্যে তোমালোকে পৃথিৱীত দুবাৰ* বিপৰ্যয় সৃষ্টি কৰিবা আৰু তোমালোকে অতিশয় অহংকাৰস্ফীত হ’বা’।

Since both the Bible and the Qur'an mention that the children of Israel rebelled against the law of God on many occasions, there is every reason to assume that the expression "twice" (marratayn) does not refer to two single instances but, rather, to two distinct, extended periods of their history(as).

فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ أُولَاهُمَا بَعَثْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ عِبَادًا لَنَا أُولِي بَأْسٍ شَدِيدٍ فَجَاسُوا خِلَالَ الدِّيَارِ ۚ وَكَانَ وَعْدًا مَفْعُولًا

তাৰ পিছত এই দুটাৰ প্ৰথমটোৰ নিৰ্ধাৰিত সময় যেতিয়া উপস্থিত হ’ল তেতিয়া আমি তোমালোকৰ বিৰুদ্ধে যুদ্ধত অত্যন্ত শক্তিশালী আমাৰ বান্দাসকলক পঠাইছিলো, ফলত তেওঁলোকে ঘৰে ঘৰে প্ৰৱেশ কৰি ধ্বংসযজ্ঞ চলাইছিল। এইটো আছিল এনেকুৱা প্ৰতিশ্ৰুতি যিটো কাৰ্যকৰ হ’বলগীয়াই আছিল।

17:5 When the first of the warnings came to pass, We sent against you Our servants of great might (armies of Nimrod Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon) who ravaged your country, a warning fulfilled (and took you to Babylon as slaves in 586 BC).

ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَا لَكُمُ الْكَرَّةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَمْدَدْنَاكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ أَكْثَرَ نَفِيرًا

তাৰ পিছত আমি তোমালোকক আকৌ সিহঁতৰ ওপৰত প্ৰতিষ্ঠিত কৰিলো, তোমালোকক ধন আৰু সন্তান-সন্ততিৰ দ্বাৰা সহায় কৰিলো আৰু সংখ্যাত গৰিষ্ঠতা প্ৰদান কৰিলো।

17:6 Then, We granted you victory over them (when King Cyrus of Persia defeated the Babylonians and brought you back to your country in 520 BC). We then, helped you with wealth and children and made you numerous in soldiery.

إِنْ أَحْسَنْتُمْ أَحْسَنْتُمْ لِأَنْفُسِكُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ أَسَأْتُمْ فَلَهَا ۚ فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ الْآخِرَةِ لِيَسُوءُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَلِيَدْخُلُوا الْمَسْجِدَ كَمَا دَخَلُوهُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَلِيُتَبِّرُوا مَا عَلَوْا تَتْبِيرًا

যদি তোমালোকে সৎকৰ্ম কৰা, তেন্তে সেয়া তোমালোকৰ নিজৰে উপকাৰ হ’ব আৰু যদি বেয়া কৰ্ম কৰা তেন্তে সেয়া তোমালোকৰে অপকাৰ হ’ব। তাৰ পিছত পৰৱৰ্তী নিৰ্ধাৰিত সময় উপস্থিত হোৱাত (মই মোৰ বান্দাসকলক প্ৰেৰণ কৰিলো) তোমালোকৰ মুখমণ্ডল কালিমাচ্ছন্ন কৰাৰ বাবে, প্ৰথমবাৰ সিহঁতে যেনেকৈ মছজিদত প্ৰৱেশ কৰিছিল আকৌ তেনেকৈ তাত প্ৰৱেশ কৰাৰ বাবে আৰু যি সিহঁতৰ কৰ্তৃত্বত আছিল সেয়া সম্পূৰ্ণৰূপে ধ্বংস কৰাৰ বাবে।

The Roman General Titus invaded Jerusalem in 70 CE. His armies entered the Temple and destroyed everything they conquered completely, just as the Babylonians had done before(sa).

(17:7) You have seen for yourselves that when you did the right thing it was to your own advantage and when you went astray you had to suffer the consequences of your wrong actions. When the time of reaction to your second lapse (invasion of Titus) arrived, people were raised up to humiliate 

you. They entered the Temple as on the previous occasion and destroyed everything which came in their way (17/104). 

(১৭:১০৪

وَقُلْنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اسْكُنُوا الْأَرْضَ فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ الْآخِرَةِ جِئْنَا بِكُمْ لَفِيفًا

আমি ইয়াৰ পিছত বনী ইছৰাঈলক ক’লো, ‘তোমালোকে পৃথিৱীত বসবাস কৰা আৰু যেতিয়া আখিৰাতৰ প্ৰতিশ্ৰুতি বাস্তৱায়িত হ’ব তেতিয়া আমি তোমালোক আটাইকে একত্ৰিত কৰি উপস্থিত কৰিম।)

🟦১৭:৮

عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمْ أَنْ يَرْحَمَكُمْ ۚ وَإِنْ عُدْتُمْ عُدْنَا ۘ وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ حَصِيرًا

সম্ভৱতঃ তোমালোকৰ প্ৰতিপালকে তোমালোকৰ প্ৰতি দয়া কৰিব, কিন্তু তোমালোকে যদি তোমালোকৰ আগৰ আচৰণৰ পুনৰাবৃত্তি কৰা তেন্তে আমিও পুনৰাবৃত্তি কৰিম। লগতে জাহান্নামক আমি কাফিৰসকলৰ বাবে কাৰাগাৰ কৰি ৰাখিছো।

17:8 Now is the time that your Lord may bless you with His mercy (as the Final Messenger is in your midst 7:157). If you repeat your transgressions, We will counter with retribution. We have made Hell a prison for opponents of the Divine Order(sa).

(৭:১৫৭

الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الرَّسُولَ النَّبِيَّ الْأُمِّيَّ الَّذِي يَجِدُونَهُ مَكْتُوبًا عِنْدَهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْخَبَائِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَالْأَغْلَالَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِهِ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَاتَّبَعُوا النُّورَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ مَعَهُ ۙ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ

যিসকলে অনুসৰণ কৰে ৰাছুলৰ, উম্মী নবীৰ, যাৰ উল্লেখ সিহঁতে সিহঁতৰ ওচৰত থকা তাওৰাত আৰু ইঞ্জীলত লিপিবদ্ধ পায়, যিজনে সিহঁতক সৎ কামৰ আদেশ দিয়ে, অসৎকৰ্মৰ পৰা নিষেধ কৰে, সিহঁতৰ বাবে পৱিত্ৰ বস্তু হালাল কৰে আৰু অপৱিত্ৰ বস্তু হাৰাম কৰে। আৰু সিহঁতক সিহঁতৰ ওপৰত থকা বোজাৰ পৰা আৰু শৃংখলৰ পৰা মুক্ত কৰে। সেয়ে যিসকলে তেওঁৰ প্ৰতি ঈমান আনে, তেওঁক সন্মান কৰে, তেওঁক সহায় কৰে আৰু যি নূৰ তেওঁৰ প্ৰতি অৱতীৰ্ণ হৈছে সেইটোৰ অনুসৰণ কৰে, তেওঁলোকেই সাফল্যমণ্ডিত।

(17:8) Your life of ignominy still continues but there is another chance for your renaissance. If following this Rasool who has come to your own habitat (Madina), you adopt the right way, you will receive Allah s bounty (7/156-157). If you treat him in the same way as you treated your previous Anbia, you will inevitably be recompensed for it by Allah and your abode will be 

Jahannam which serves as a prison-home for those who discard the right way.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنَ يَهْدِي لِلَّتِي هِيَ أَقْوَمُ وَيُبَشِّرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ الصَّالِحَاتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا كَبِيرًا

নিশ্চয় এই কোৰআনে হিদায়ত কৰে সেই পথৰ পিনে যিটো আক্বৱাম (সৰল, সুদৃঢ়) আৰু সৎকৰ্মপৰায়ণ মুমিনসকলক সুসংবাদ দিয়ে যে, তেওঁলোকৰ বাবে আছে মহাপুৰস্কাৰ।

17:9 VERILY, this Qur'an shows the way to all that is most upright,10 and gives the believers who do good deeds the glad tiding that theirs will be a great reward;

Note.

I.e., conformable to ethical rectitude and beneficial to man's individual and social life. Thus, after showing that sinning is synonymous with denying the truth, the discourse returns to the fundamental theme of the Qur'an, already alluded to in verse 2 of this surah: namely, the statement that God always offers guidance to man through the revelations which He bestows upon His prophets(as).

🟦১৭:১০(কোৰআন: আমাৰ পৰিত্রাণৰ উপায়).

وَأَنَّ الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا

আৰু যিসকলে আখিৰাতৰ প্ৰতি ঈমান পোষণ নকৰে আমি সিহঁতৰ বাবে প্ৰস্তুত কৰি ৰাখিছো যন্ত্ৰণাদায়ক শাস্তি।

[17:1] Glory (Sub'haana) be to the One who (Ellazii) made HIS servant (Åb'di-hi) travel (-As'raa Bi) at night (Lai'lan) from (Mina) the Sacred (El'Haraami) Mosque (El'Mas'jidi) to (ilaa) the farthest (El'Aq'soa) Mosque

(17:7) (El'Mas'jidi), around (Haw'lahu) which (Ellazii) We have blessed (Baarak'naa) in order to (Li) show him (Nuriya-hu) some of (Min') Our signs (Aayaati-naa). Indeed (Innahu), HE (God) (Huwa) is the HEARER (Es'Samiiu), the SEER (El' Basiir).

[17:2] For (Wa) We gave (Aatai'naa) Moses (Muusa) the Book (El'Kitaaba) and (Wa) made it (Jaål'naa-hu) a guidance (Hudan) for (Li) the Children of Israel (Banii Is'raa'iila) that do not (Alla) take (Tattakhizu') a 

representative (Wakiilaa) besides ME (Min Duunii).

[17:3] The descendants (Zurriyyata) of those (Man') We transported (Hamal'naa) along with (Maå) Noah (Nuuhin). Indeed, he (Innahu) was (Kaana) a grateful(Shakuuraa) servant (Åb'daan).

[17:4] And (Wa) We decreed (Qadoi'naa) to (ilaa) the Children of Israel (Banii Is'raa'iila) in (Fii) the Book (El'Kitaabi) that (La), 'You will corrupt (Tuf'sidunna) on the earth (Fiil' Ar'di) twice (Marratai'ni), and (Wa)

you will (La) rise (Ta'lunna) in enormous (Kabiiraa) haughtiness (Uluwwan).'

[17:5] So (Fa) when (Izaa) the first (Uulaa-) promise (Wa'du) of the two (-humaa) came (Jaa'a), We sent (Baåth'naa) servants (Ebaadan) of Ours (Lanaa); those (Uulii) of strength (Shadiidin) and might (Ba'sin)

against you (Ålai'kum), and (Fa) they pried (Jaasu') through (Khilaala) the houses (Ed'Diyaari), and (Wa) the promise (Wa'dan) was (Kaana) effective (Maf'uulaa).

[17:6] Then (Thumma) We returned (Radad'naa) one time (El'Karrata) for you (Lakum) against them (Ålai'him), and (Wa) We reinforced you (Am'dad'naa-kum) with (Bi) wealth (Am'waalin) and (Wa) sons

(Baniina); and (Wa) We made you (Jaål'naa-kum) greater (Ak'thara) in troops (Nafiiraa),

[17:7] "If (In) you do good (Ah'santum'), you do good (Ah'san-tum’) for (Li) yourselves (Anfusi-kum); and (Wa) if (In') you do bad (Asa'tum’), thus (Fa) it is for it (the soul) (Lahaa)." And (Fa) when (Izaa) the last 

(El'Aakhirati) promise (Wa'du) came (Jaa'a) to (Li) distress (Yasuuw'u') your faces (Wujuuha-kum’) and (Wa)that (Li) they entered (Yad'khulu') the Mosque (17:1) (El'Mas'jida), just as (Kamaa) they entered it (Dakhaluu-hu) the first (Awwala) time (Marratin) to (Li) destroy (Yutabbiru') what (Maa) was elevated (Ålaw') in destruction (Tat'biiraa).

[17:8] "Perhaps (Åsaa) your LORD (Rabbu-kum) will (An) have mercy upon you (p) (Yar'hama-kum’), but (Wa) if (In') you repeat (Udt'tum), We will repeat (Ud'naa). For (Wa) We have made (Jaål'naa) Hell 

(Jahannama) as a mat (Hasiiraa) for the disbelievers (Lil' Kaafiriina)."

[17:9] Indeed (Inna), this (Haaza) Koran (El'Qur'aana) guides (Yah'dii) to that which (Lillatii) is (Hiya) more appropriate (Aq'wamu) and (Wa) gives good news (Yubasshiru) to the believers (El'Mu'miniina) who (Ellaziina) do (Ya'maluuna) good deeds (Es'Soalihaati) that (Anna) they will have (Lahum) a magnificent (Kabiiraa) reward (Aj'ran). 

[17:10] And (Wa) that (Anna) those who (Ellaziina) do not (Laa) believe (Yu'minuuna) in the hereafter (Bil'Aakhirati), We have prepared (A'tad'naa) a painful (Aliimaa) punishment (Åzaaban) for them (Lahum').
