🟫১২:৫৮(Joseph's Brothers Travel to Egypt for Grain).

وَجَاءَ إِخْوَةُ يُوسُفَ فَدَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَعَرَفَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُ مُنْكِرُونَ

ইউছুফৰ ভাতৃসকল আহিল আৰু তেওঁৰ ওচৰত প্ৰৱেশ কৰিলে। ফলত তেওঁ সিহঁতক চিনি পালে, কিন্তু সিহঁতে তেওঁক চিনি নাপালে।

[12:58] And (Wa) the brothers (Ikh'watu) of Joseph (Yuusufa) came (Jaa'a), and (Fa) they entered (Dakhalu')to him (Ålai'hi), so (Fa) he recognized them (Årafa-hum'), but (Wa) they (Hum') were unsure of him 

(Munkiruun Lahu).

12:58 (And after some years) Joseph’s brothers came and presented themselves before him. Joseph recognized them, but they did not know him.

Note.

They came from Can’aan to buy grain as places around Egypt started suffering the drought(sa).

وَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُمْ بِجَهَازِهِمْ قَالَ ائْتُونِي بِأَخٍ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَبِيكُمْ ۚ أَلَا تَرَوْنَ أَنِّي أُوفِي الْكَيْلَ وَأَنَا خَيْرُ الْمُنْزِلِينَ

আৰু তেওঁ যেতিয়া সিহঁতক সিহঁতৰ সামগ্ৰীৰ ব্যৱস্থা কৰি দিলে তেতিয়া তেওঁ ক’লে, ‘তোমালোকে মোৰ ওচৰলৈ তোমালোকৰ পিতৃ পক্ষৰ বৈমাত্ৰেয় ভায়েকক লৈ আহিবা। তোমালোকে দেখা নাইনে, মই কেনেকৈ পূৰ্ণ মাত্ৰাত প্ৰদান কৰো আৰু মই কিমান ভাল অথিতিপৰায়ণ’।

[12:59] And (Wa) when (Lamma) he had supplied them (Jahhaza-hum) with (Bi) their equipments (Jahaazi-him), he (Joseph) said (Qaala), "Bring me (E'tuunii Bi) the brother (Akhin) of yours (Lakum) from (Min')

your father (Abii-kum')." Do you not (Alaa) see (Taraw'na) that I (Annii) give full (Uufii) measure (El'Kai'la)and (Wa) that I am (Ana') the best (Khai'ru) of accommodators (El'Munziliin)?

🟫১২:৬০

فَإِنْ لَمْ تَأْتُونِي بِهِ فَلَا كَيْلَ لَكُمْ عِنْدِي وَلَا تَقْرَبُونِ

‘আৰু যদি তোমালোকে তাক লৈ নাহা তেন্তে তোমালোকৰ বাবে মোৰ ওচৰত কোনো খাদ্য সামগ্ৰী নাই আনকি তোমালোক মোৰ ওচৰলৈকে নাহিবা’।

[12:60] "But (Fa) if (In) you do not (Lam') bring him to me (Ta'tuunii Bi-hi), then (Fa) you will have (Lakum')no (Laa) measure (Kai'la) with me (Endii) nor (Walaa) shall you approach me (Taq'rabuuni)."

قَالُوا سَنُرَاوِدُ عَنْهُ أَبَاهُ وَإِنَّا لَفَاعِلُونَ

সিহঁতে ক’লে, ‘তাৰ বিষয়ে আমি তাৰ পিতৃক সন্মত কৰোৱাৰ চেষ্টা কৰিম আৰু আমি এইটো নিশ্চয় কৰিম’।

[12:61] They (the brothers)said (Qaalu'), "We will entice (Sa Nuraawidu) his father (Abaa-hu) concerning him (Ån'hu); and (Wa) indeed, we (Innaa) will be (La) effective (Faa'iluun)."

وَقَالَ لِفِتْيَانِهِ اجْعَلُوا بِضَاعَتَهُمْ فِي رِحَالِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْرِفُونَهَا إِذَا انْقَلَبُوا إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ

আৰু ইউছুফে তেওঁৰ কৰ্মচাৰীসকলক ক’লে, ‘সিহঁতে যি পণ্যমূল্য দিছে সেয়া সিহঁতৰ খাদ্যসামগ্ৰীৰ ভিতৰতে থৈ দিয়া, যাতে সিহঁতে পৰিয়ালৰ ওচৰলৈ উভতি যোৱাৰ পিছত সেয়া চিনি পায়। ফলত যাতে সিহঁতে আকৌ উভতি আহে’।

[12:62] And (Wa) he (Joseph) said (Qaala) to (Li) his two young men (Fit'yaani-hi), "Put (Ej'ålu') their goods (Bidoa'åta-hum') into (Fii) their baggage (Rihaali-him) perhaps they (Laållahum') will recognize them

(Ya'rifuunahaa) when (Izaa) they return (Enqalabuu') to (ilaa) their family (Ah'li-him') perhaps they (Laållahum') will come back (Yar'ji'uun)."

🟫১২:৬৩(Yusuf's Brothers ask Yaqub's Permission to send Their Brother with Them to Egypt).

فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوا إِلَىٰ أَبِيهِمْ قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا مُنِعَ مِنَّا الْكَيْلُ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا أَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ

এতেকে সিহঁতে যেতিয়া সিহঁতৰ পিতৃ ওচৰলৈ উভতি আহিল, তেতিয়া সিহঁতে ক’লে, ‘হে আমাৰ পিতা! আমাৰ বাবে পৰিমাপকৃত খাদ্য সামগ্ৰী নিষিদ্ধ কৰা হৈছে। গতিকে আমাৰ ভাতৃক আমাৰ লগত পঠিয়াই দিয়ক যাতে আমি পৰিমাপকৃত খাদ্য সামগ্ৰী পাওঁ। অৱশ্যে আমি তাৰ হিফাজত কৰিম’।

[12:63] And (Wa) when (Lamma) they returned (Raja'uu') to (ilaa) their father (Abii-him'), they said (Qaalu),"O (Yaa) our father (Abaa-naa), the measure (El'Kai'lu) from us (Minnaa) was forbidden (Muniå), so (Fa)send (Ar'sil') our brother (Akhaa-naa) with our group (Nak'tal'); and (Wa) indeed (Innaa), we will be (La)his guardians (Haafizuun Lahu)."

12:63 And so, when they returned to their father, [Joseph's brothers] said: "O our father! All grain(*) is [to be] withheld from us [in the future unless we bring Benjamin with us]: send, therefore, our brother with us, so that we may obtain our measure (of grain]; and, verily, we shall guard him well!"

Note*

Lit., "measure [of grain]", here used metonymically in an allusion to Joseph's words (verse 12:60)(as).

🟫১২:৬৪

قَالَ هَلْ آمَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا كَمَا أَمِنْتُكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَخِيهِ مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖ فَاللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَافِظًا ۖ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

তেওঁ ক’লে, ‘মই তোমালোকক ইয়াৰ বিষয়ে তেনেকৈ নিৰাপদ বুলি ভাৱিম নেকি, যেনেকৈ ইয়াৰ আগত তোমালোকক নিৰাপদ বুলি ভাৱিছিলো ইয়াৰ ভায়েকৰ বিষয়ে? কিন্তু আল্লাহেই ৰক্ষণাবেক্ষণত শ্ৰেষ্ঠ আৰু তেৱেঁই সৰ্বশ্ৰেষ্ঠ দয়ালু’।

[12:64] He (the father) said (Qaala), "Shall (Hal) I entrust you (Aamanu-kum') with him (Ålai'hi) just (illa) as (Kamaa) I entrusted you (Amintu-kum') with (Ålaa) his brother (Joseph) (Akhii-hi) before (Min Qab'lu)? But (Fa)GOD (Ellahu) is the best (Khai'run) Guardian (Haafizoan), for (Wa) HE (Huwa) is the Most Merciful (Ar'hamu) of those who are merciful (Er'Raahimiin)."

وَلَمَّا فَتَحُوا مَتَاعَهُمْ وَجَدُوا بِضَاعَتَهُمْ رُدَّتْ إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا مَا نَبْغِي ۖ هَٰذِهِ بِضَاعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْنَا ۖ وَنَمِيرُ أَهْلَنَا وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِيرٍ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ كَيْلٌ يَسِيرٌ

আৰু যেতিয়া সিহঁতে সিহঁতৰ খাদ্যসামগ্ৰীৰ টোপোলা খুলিলে তেতিয়া সিহঁতে দেখিবলৈ পালে যে, সিহঁতৰ পণ্যমূল্য সিহঁতক ওভোতাই দিয়া হৈছে। সিহঁতে ক’লে, ‘হে আমাৰ পিতা! আমি আৰু কি প্ৰত্যাশা কৰিব পাৰো? চাওঁক এয়া আমি দিয়া পণ্যমূল্য, আমাক আকৌ ওভোতাই দিয়া হৈছে। আমি আমাৰ পৰিয়ালবৰ্গক খাদ্য-সামগ্ৰী আনি দিম আৰু আমি আমাৰ ভাতৃৰ ৰক্ষণাবেক্ষণ কৰিম লগতে আমি অতিৰিক্ত আৰু এটা উটৰ (পিঠিত) পণ্য আনিম; এই পৰিমাণৰ শস্য লৈ অহা অতি সহজ’।

[12:65] And (Wa) when (Lammaa) they opened (Fatahu') their belongings (Mataa'å-hum), they found (Wajaduu') their goods (Bidoa'åta-hum') returned (Ruddat') to them (ilai'him'). They said (Qaalu), "O (Yaa)

our father (Abaa-naa), what (Maa) could we desire (Nab'gii)? These (Haazihi) are our goods (Bidoa'åtu-naa)returned (Ruddat') to us (ilai'naa). We will provide for (Namiiru) our family (Ah'la-naa), and guard

(Nah'fazu) our brother (Akhaa-naa), and (Wa) increase (Naz'daadu) to the measure (Kai'la) of a camel (Baeerin). That (Zaalika) is an easy (Yasiir) measure (Kai'lu)."

12:65 When they opened their packs, they discovered that their barter had been returned to them. (The grand minister, the Prophet of God, had paid on their behalf.) They said, “O Our father! What more can we ask? We shall bring food for our family and guard our brother. And we shall have the extra measure of a camel load. The first load we have brought is but scant.”(sa).

قَالَ لَنْ أُرْسِلَهُ مَعَكُمْ حَتَّىٰ تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقًا مِنَ اللَّهِ لَتَأْتُنَّنِي بِهِ إِلَّا أَنْ يُحَاطَ بِكُمْ ۖ فَلَمَّا آتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ

পিতাকে ক’লে, ‘মই তাক কেতিয়াও তোমালোকৰ লগত নপঠাও যেতিয়ালৈকে তোমালোকে আল্লাহৰ নামত এই অঙ্গীকাৰ নকৰিবা যে, তোমালোকে তাক মোৰ ওচৰলৈ ঘূৰাই আনিবা, অৱশ্যে যদি তোমালোকক আটক কৰা হয় (তেন্তে সেয়া ভিন্ন কথা)’। তাৰ পিছত সিহঁতে যেতিয়া তেওঁৰ ওচৰত প্ৰতিজ্ঞা কৰিলে তেতিয়া তেওঁ ক’লে, ‘আমি যি বিষয়ে কথা পাতি আছো, আল্লাহেই ইয়াৰ বিধায়ক’।

[12:66] He (the father) said (Qaala), "I will never (Lan') send him (Ur'sila-hu) with you (Maåkum') until (Hatta)you give me (Tu'tuuni) an agreement (Maw'thiqan) by GOD (Minallahi) that (La) you will bring him to me (Ta'tunnanii Bi-hi), unless (illa An) you are surrounded (Yuhaato Bi-kum’)." And (Fa) when (Lammaa) they gave him (Aataw'hu) their agreement (Maw'thiqa-hum'), he said (Qaala), "GOD (Ellahu) is a Representative 

(Wakiil) over (Ålaa) what (Maa) we say (Yaquulu)."

🟫১২:৬৭(Ya`qub orders His Children to enter Egypt from Different Gates).

وَقَالَ يَا بَنِيَّ لَا تَدْخُلُوا مِنْ بَابٍ وَاحِدٍ وَادْخُلُوا مِنْ أَبْوَابٍ مُتَفَرِّقَةٍ ۖ وَمَا أُغْنِي عَنْكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ۖ إِنِ الْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ ۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ ۖ وَعَلَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ

আৰু তেওঁ ক’লে, ‘হে মোৰ পুত্ৰসকল! তোমালোকে এখন দুৱাৰেৰে প্ৰৱেশ নকৰিবা, বৰং ভিন ভিন দুৱাৰেৰে প্ৰৱেশ কৰিবা। আল্লাহৰ সিদ্ধান্তৰ বিপৰীতে মই তোমালোকৰ বাবে একো কৰিব নোৱাৰো। আদেশ🍒 কেৱল মাত্ৰ আল্লাহৰেই। মই তেওঁৰ ওপৰতেই নিৰ্ভৰ কৰো, আল্লাহৰ ওপৰতেই নিৰ্ভৰকাৰীসকলে নিৰ্ভৰ কৰা উচিত’।(+১২:৪০)

[12:67] And (Wa) he (the father)said (Qaala), "O (Yaa) my sons (Baniyya), do not (Laa) enter (Tad'khuluu') from (Min) a single (Waahidin) gate (door) (Baabin); but (Wa) enter (Ed'khulu') from (Min') separated 

(Mutafarriqatin) gates (Ab'waabin); and (Wa) I cannot (Maa) avail you (Ug'nii Ån-kum) against GOD (Minallahi) at all (Min Shai'in). The judgement (El'Huk'mu) is only (In illa) for GOD (Lillahi); on HIM (Ålai'hi)

I have relied (Tawakkal'tu), and (Wa) so let (Fal') those of confidence(El'Mutawakkiluun) rely (Yatawakkali)on HIM (Ålaihi)."

📍Note-1

Jacob advised his children not to enter Misr from the same gate, but to enter it from different gates. The question is: Was Egypt surrounded by a wall that had several gates leading into it? History shows that walls and various gates were erected only around fortified cities or citadels and not around entire lands, or along entire borders of a country - with exception of China. The 

conclusion: Joseph's Misr was not Egypt, or Qubt as it was then known. See verses 2:61; 12:111; 43:51(sig).

12:67 And he said, “O My sons! Do not enter the town all by one gate, but enter by different gates. Yet, I cannot avail you against the Divine laws. (So, handle all situations accordingly.) Rule and law-giving belongs to God alone. In Him I trust, and everyone must place trust in Him since the Divine laws never change."(sa).

It is a common misconception that Jacob told his eleven sons to enter by different gates to obviate ‘evil eye’. Historically the brothers had been accused of spying on a previous occasion. The Qur’an consistently rejects all superstition. Genesis 42:9 And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said to them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

🟫১২:৬৮(JOSEPH MEETS HIS BROTHER)

وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَهُمْ أَبُوهُمْ مَا كَانَ يُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا حَاجَةً فِي نَفْسِ يَعْقُوبَ قَضَاهَا ۚ وَإِنَّهُ لَذُو عِلْمٍ لِمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

আৰু যেতিয়া সিহঁতে সিহঁতৰ পিতৃৰ আদেশ মতে প্ৰৱেশ কৰিলে, তেতিয়া আল্লাহৰ আদেশৰ বিপৰীতে সেয়া সিহঁতৰ কোনো কামত অহা নাছিল; ইয়াকূবে কেৱল তেওঁৰ মনৰ এটি অভিপ্ৰায় পূৰ্ণ কৰিছিল আৰু অৱশ্যে তেওঁ আমি দিয়া শিক্ষাৰে জ্ঞানৱান আছিল। কিন্তু বেছি ভাগ মানুহেই নাজানে।

[12:68] And (Wa) when (Lammaa) they entered (Dakhalu') from (Min') where (Hai'thu) their father (Abuu-hum) had instructed them (Amara-hum'), it did (Kaana) not (Maa) avail them (Yug'nii Ån-hum) against GOD (Minallahi) at all (Min Shai'in), except (illa) a need (Haajatan) within (Fii) the soul (mind) (Naf'si) of Jacob

(the father) (Ya'quuba), which he issued (Qadoa-haa). And (Wa) indeed, he (Innahu) possessed (Lazuu)knowledge (il'min) of what (Limmaa) We had taught him (Ållam'naa-hu), but (Walaakinna) most (Ak'thara)of the people (En'naasi) did not (Laa) know (Ya'lamuun).

📍Verse:

12:68 When they went, they entered the town as their father instructed. Jacob was quite right that even he (a Prophet of God) could not avail them against the Divine laws. It was a duty that he did (giving the correct advice to his sons), although it could not prevent what was to happen [with Benjamin(not in Quran) 12:75-81]. He was, by Our instruction, full of knowledge. But most people do not know(sa).
