.
[2:72] And (Wa) when (Iz') you killed (Qatal'tum') someone (Naf'san) and (Fa) deceived (Eddaara'tum') about it (Fiihaa), and (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) brought forth (Mukh'rijun) what (Maa) you were (Kuntum') concealing (Tak'tumuun).
.
📍Note:
The use of the plural "you" implies the principle of collective, communal responsibility stipulated by Mosaic Law in cases of murder by a person or persons unknown. God's bringing the guilt to light obviously refers to the Day of Judgment.
.

[2:73] So (Fa) We said (Qul'naa), "Strike him (the dead) (Ed'ribuu-hu) with (Bi) part of it(Ba'dihaa)." Thus (Kazaalika) GOD (Ellahu) revived (Yuh'yii) the dead (El'Maw'taa) and (Wa) showed you (Yurii-kum') HIS signs (Aayaati-hi) so that you (Laållakum') might reason (Ta'qiluun). (+31:28)
.
📍Note:
There is life for you in the law of Just Recompense. A law that deters murder and, thus, saves lives, in fact, gives you life 2:179.
.
(Bible: Another explanation: The Mosaic law, according to the Bible, ordains the sacrifice of a cow in cases of unsolved murder. The elders of the town wash their hands and say: “Our hands have not shed this blood, nor have our eyes seen it.” The community is then absolved of the collective responsibility Deuteronomy 21:1-9 . In this particular instance the mystery was solved and the murderer was identified).
.

[2:74] Then (Thumma) your hearts (Quluubu-kum) hardened (Qasat') after (Min Ba'di) that (Zaalika) and (Fa) became (Hiya) like (Ka) stones (El'Hijaarati) or (Aw') stronger (Ashaddu) in hardness (Qas'watan). For
(Wa) indeed (Inna), among (Mina) stones (El'Hijaarati) are (La) some (Maa) of which (Min'hu) rivers (El'An'haaru) gush forth (Yatafajjaru), and (Wa) indeed (Inna), among them (Min'haa) are (La) some (Maa)
that split (Yasshaqqaqu) and (Fa) water (El'Maa'u) comes out (Yakh'ruju) of them (Min'hu), and (Wa) indeed (Inna), among them (Min'haa) are (La) some (Maa) that fall down (Yah'bitu) from (Min') fear of GOD
(Khash'yati-llahi). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is not (Maa Bi) heedless (Gaafilin) of what (Åmmaa) you do (Ta'maluun).
.
📍Note-1:
For an explanation of this allusion, see 7:143. The simile of "the rocks from which streams gush forth" or "from which water issues" serves to illustrate its opposite, namely, dryness and lack of life, and is thus an allusion to the spiritual barrenness with which the Qur'an charges the children of Israel .
.
📍Note-2:
Rocks may become soft according to Divine laws in nature. They are more compliant than the hearts that defy reason.
.
(Distorting the Word of God).

[2:75] Are you then desiring (Afa’tat'mauuna) that (An) they would believe you (Yu'minu' La-kum'), while (Wa) a group (Fariiqun) among them (Min'hum') had already (Qad') been (Kaana) hearing (Yas'ma'uuna) the word of GOD (Kalaama-llahi) and then (Thumma) distort it (Yuharrifuunahu) after (Min Ba'di) what (Maa)
they had understood of it (Åqaluu-hu) while (Wa) they (Hum') know (Ya'lamuun)?
.
2:75 Do you still hope that they will join your ranks in faith? A party among them used to listen to the Word of God in the Torah, then, distorted its words and true meanings, after they had understood it. And they knew full well what they were doing!
.
(Concealing the Word of God).

[2:76] And (Wa) when (Izaa) they meet (Laqu') those who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), they say (Qaaluu'), "We have believed (Aamannaa)," but (Wa) when (Izaa) some of them (Ba'du-hum') retreat (Khalaa) to (ilaa) others (Ba'din), they say (Qaaluu'), "Will you talk to them (Atuhaddithuunahum) about what (Bimaa) GOD (Ellahu) has disclosed (Fataha) to you (Ålai'kum') so that (Li) they can argue with you (Yuhaajjuu-kum) about it (Bihi) in front of (Enda) your LORD (Rabbi-kum')? Will you then not (Afalaa) reason (Ta'qiluun)?"
.

[2:77] Or do they not (Awalaa) know (Ya'lamuuna) that (Anna) GOD (Ellaha) knows (Ya'lamu) what (Maa) they confide (Yusirruuna) and what (Wamaa) they declare (Yu'linuuna)?
.

[2:78] And (Wa) among them (Min'hum') are the unlearned (illiterates/gentile-rf) (Ummiyyuuna) who do not (Laa) know (Ya'lamuuna) the Book (El'Kitaaba) except (illaa) desires (Amaaniyya), and (Wa) they (Hum) are only (In' illa) assuming (Yazunnuun).
.
📍Note:⚡The correct meaning of the word 'ummi' in the Quran is a gentile; one who has not received a Scripture.

[2:79] So (Fa) woe (Wai'lun) to those who (Lillaziina) write (Yak'tubuuna) the Book (El'Kitaaba) with (Bi) their hands (Ai'dii-him) and (Fa) say (Yaquuluuna), "This (Haaza) is from GOD (Min Enda-llahi)," in order to (Li) trade it for (Yash'taru Bi-hi') a little (Qaliilan) price (Thamanan). So (Fa) woe to them (Lahum) for what (Mimmaa) their hands (Ai'dii-him') have written (Katabat'), and (Wa) woe (Wai'lun) to them (Lahum) for what (Mimmaa) they earn (Yak'sibuun).

[2:80] And (Wa) they say (Qaalu'), "The Fire (3:24) (En'Naaru) will never (Lan) touch us (Tamassa-naa), except (illa) for a limited number of (Ma'duudatan) days (Ayyaaman)." Say (Qul'): "Do you have (Attakhaz'tum') an
agreement (Åh'dan) with GOD (Endallahi)? For (Fa) GOD (Ellahu) never (Lan) breaks (Yukh'lifa) HIS agreement (Åh'da-hu). Or (Am') are you saying (Taquuluuna) about GOD (Ålaallahi) what (Maa) you do not (Laa) know (Ta'lamuun)?"
.
📍Note-1: It is an established belief among corrupted Muslims that they will suffer in Hell only in proportion to the number of sins they had committed, then they will get out of Hell and go to Heaven. They also believe that Muhammadwill intercede on their behalf, and will take them out of Hell. Such beliefs are contrary to the Quran.
(Interesting note on interceed may read: https://iiqasquran2020.blogspot.com/2021/08/the-myth-of-intercession.html?m=1).

[2:81] In fact (Balaa), whoever (Man) earns (Kasaba) a sin (Sayyiatan) while (Wa) his misdeed (Khatiiatu-hu) has encompassed him (Ahaatot' Bi-hi), then (Fa) those (U'laaika) will be the companions (As'haabu) of the Fire (En'Naari); they (Hum') will be therein (Fiiha) eternally (Khaaliduun).
