.
[3:165] Or was it when (Awalammaa) a misfortune (Musiibatun) struck you (Asoabat'kum'), you were
already (Qad') struck (Asab'tum) twice like it (Mith'lai'haa)? You said (Qul'tum'), "How (Annaa) is this
(Haaza)?" Say (Qul'): "It (Huwa) is from (Min' Endi) yourselves (Anfusi-kum')." Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is
capable of (Qadiir Ålaa) all (Kulli) things (Shai'in).

.
📍Verse/Note:
3:165 By such instruction and training, the Rasool prepares you O Jamaat-ul-Momineen for the
establishment of the Divine Order. To attain this objective you will confront opposition. In this
opposition sometimes you will face defeat and sometimes you will have success. O Rasool they ask
you Whence was that defeat? . Tell them: It was brought on by your own selves. Allah has devised
Laws. Whoever adheres to them gains success; whoever disregards them suffers a loss. The loss you suffered (at Uhud) was in accordance with Allah s Laws(pz).
.
.
[3:166] And (Wa) what (Maa) struck you (Asoaba-kum') the day (Yaw'ma) the two assemblies (El'Jam'ååni)
met (El'taqaa) was by (Fabi) the permission of GOD (Iz'ni-llahi) so (Wa) that (Li) HE might expose (Ya'lama)
the believers (El'Mu'miniin).
.
📍Verse:
3:166 That which befell you when the two armies clashed, was according to God’s laws that He might let the believers know their strength and weakness(sa).
.
.
[3:167] And (Wa) that (Li) HE might expose (Ya'lama) those who (Ellaziina) were hypocritical 🩸(Naafaqu').
For (Wa) it was said (Qiila) to them (Lahum'), "Come (Ta'åålaw') and fight (Qaatilu') in (Fii) the way of GOD
(Sabiili-llahi) or (Awi) to defend (Ed'fau')." They said (Qaalu'), "If (Law') we had known (Na'lamu) there
would be fighting (Qitaalan), we would have (La) followed you (p) (Ettaba'naakum')." They (Hum') were
closer (Aq'rabu) to disbelief (Lil' Kuf'ri) that day (Yaw'maizin) than they (Min'hum') were to faith (Lil' iimaani),
saying (Yaquuluuna) with (Bi) their mouths (Af'waahi-him) what (Maa) was not (Lai'sa) in (Fii) their hearts
(Quluubi-him'). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is aware (A'lamu) of what (Bimaa) they conceal (Yak'tumuun).
.
📍Verse/Note:
3:167 and mark out those who were tainted with 🩸hypocrisy and, when they were told, "Come, fight in God's cause" - or, "Defend yourselves"🌿 - answered, "If we but knew [that it would come to a] fight, we would indeed follow you." Unto apostasy were they nearer on that day than unto faith, uttering with their mouths something which was not in their hearts,129 the while God knew fully well what they were trying to conceal:
.
🌿Only a fight in self-defence - in the widest meaning of this term - can be considered a "fight in God's cause" (see ⛱️2:190, and the corresponding notes); and, thus, the particle "or" between these two phrases is almost synonymous with the expression "in other words"(sa).
(🩸Hypocrites: miserly, except that which is in their self interest. See verses 2:8; 63:1-sig)
.
(🩸Hypocrites: miserly, except that which is in their self interest. See verses 2:8; 63:1).
.
[3:168] Those who (Ellaziina) said (Qaalu') about (Li) their brethren (Ikh'waani-him') while (Wa) sitting
back (Qaådu'), "If (Law') they had obeyed us (Atoauu-naa), they would not (Maa) have been killed (Qutilu')."
Say (Qul'): "Then (Fa) prevent (Ed'rau') death (El'Maw'ta) from (Ån) yourselves (Anfusi-kumu), if (In) you
should be (Kuntum') truthful (Soadiqiin)."
.
(The Righteous Do Not Really Die).
.
[3:169] And (Wa) do not (Laa) think (Tah'sabanna) those who (Ellaziina) are killed (Qutilu') in (Fii) the way
of GOD (Sabiili-llahi) are dead (Am'waata). In fact (Bal'), they are alive (📍2:154) (Ah'yaau) at (Enda) their LORD
(Rabbi-him'), living (Yur'zaquun).
.
📍Verse/Note-1
3:169 Do not think that those who are killed in the cause of GOD are dead; they are alive at their Lord, enjoying His provisions.
.
We learn from the Quran that the righteous do not really die; they simply leave their worldly bodies and go directlyto the same Paradise where Adam and Eve once lived(2:154:24,16:32,22:58,44:56, &36:26(rk).
.
The death of righteous people is a pleasant journey to paradise: see 2:154; 8:24; 16:32;  22:58; 44:56; 36:26(edip).

📍Note-1
Martyrdom: Mu'mins, those convinced by this guidance, are prepared to fight for a just cause: to
kill or get killed, and they receive their well deserved reward from God. See verse and footnote 💙. Aggression is forbidden. See verses and footnote 4:74-78.
.
📍Note-2
Martyrdom(শাহাদাত/শ্বহীদত্ব): Verses 3:151-158 show that mu'mins are willing to kill and get killed in the cause of God. See verses 2:154; 3:138-141,169; 4:75-78; 4:101-106; 8:25, 39, 64; 9:47-54; 42:39; 57:19, and 4:94; 9:1-15; 17:33; 58:8, and Verses 8:64-68; 9:111.

.
[3:170] Rejoicing (Farihiina) at what (Bimaa) GOD (Ellahu) has given them (Aataa-humu) of (Min) HIS
favour (Fad'li-hi), while (Wa) receiving good news of (Yas'tab'shiruuna Bi) those (Ellaziina) after them (Min
Khal'fi-him') who have not yet (Lam') caught up with them (Yal'haqu' Bi-him) that there will be no (Alaa)
fear (Khaw'fun) upon them (Ålai'him'), nor (Walaa) will they (Hum') grieve (Yah'zanuun).
.
📍Verse/Note:
3:170- Happy with what God has granted them from His favor, and they rejoice for those who have yet to follow them. There is no fear over them nor do they grieve.
.
Prophets, those who affirm their mission, those who witness the truth, and righteous people are together in the hereafter (4:69). (Can be seen in -Psalms 37:29, Matthew 22:32 , Luke 10:25 and John 17:3)(edip).
.
.
[3:171] Receiving good news of (Yas'tab'shiruuna Bi) blessing (Ni'matin) from GOD (Minallahi) and (Wa)
favour (Fad'lin) and (Wa) that GOD (Annallaha) does not (Laa) waste (Yudiiu) the reward (Aj'ra) of the
believers (El'Mu'miniin),
.
📍Verse:
3:171 They rejoice because of the favor from God and the bounty. For, God never fails to reward those who have conviction in His laws.
