.
[2:153] O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), seek help (⚡2:45) (Es'ta'eenu') through (Bi)
patience (Es'Sob'ri) and (Wa) Prayer (Es'Solaati). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is with (Maå) those who are
patient (Es'Soabiriin).
.
📍Note-1
Salaat = Following God’s commands closely 2:3. Wa in the middle of this verse merges with Salaat as indicated by ‘God being with the steadfast’, without mentioning Salaat in the end.
.
3️⃣Note-2(⚡2:45)
.
.
[2:154] And (Wa) do not (Laa) say (Taquulu') about those who (Liman) are killed (Yuq'talu) in (Fii) the way
of GOD (Sabiili-llahi), "They are dead (Am'waatu)." In fact (Bal'), they are alive (3:169) (Ah'yaa'un), but
(Walaakin) you do not (Laa) perceive (Tash'uruun).
.
📍Verse/Note:
2:154 (True believers are steadfast in self-defense. 2:190.) Do not say of those who are slain in God’s cause, “They are dead!” Nay, they are living, but you do not perceive.
.
Death is like a prolonged state of sleep until the Resurrection Day 36:52. However, those who lay their lives in the cause of God, themselves, undergo an emergent evolution, and instantly find themselves in a state of bliss of the Next Life. And they get honorable provision from their Lord. 3:169.
.
📍Note-1
Martyrdom(শাহাদাত/শ্বহীদত্ব): Verses 3:151-158 show that mu'mins are willing to kill and get killed in the cause of God. See verses 2:154; 3:138-141,169; 4:75-78; 4:101-106; 8:25, 39, 64; 9:47-54; 42:39; 57:19, and 4:94; 9:1-15; 17:33; 58:8, and Verses 8:64-68; 9:111.

.
[2:155] And (Wa) We will (La) test you (p) (Nab'luwannakum) with (Bi) something (Shai'in) of (Mina) fear 1
(El'Khaw'fi), hunger 2
(El'Juue), and (Wa) the loss (Naq'sin) of (Mina) wealth 3
(El'Am'waali), souls 4
(El'An'fusi)
and (Wa) fruits 5
(Etthamaraati), so (Wa) give good news to (Basshiri) those who are patient (Es'Soabiriin);
.
📍Note:
The test is designed to prove that we worship God alone under all circumstances (29:2).
(See 3:186 verse and note).

.
[2:156] whom (Ellaziina) when (Izaa) a misfortune (Musiibatun) strikes them (Asoabat'hum), they say
(Qaalu'), "Indeed, we (Innaa) belong to GOD (Lillahi) and (Wa) indeed (Innaa), to HIM (ilai'hi) we will
return (Raaji'uun)."
.
📍Verse/Note-1
2:156 When a calamity befalls them, they do not waver. Rather, they say in word and attitude, "To God we belong, dedicated to His cause, and every step of ours will advance in the direction shown by Him." [9:59].
.

.
[2:157] Those (U'laaika) are the ones upon whom (Ålai'him') are communications (Solawaatun) from (Min)
their LORD (Rabbi-him') and (Wa) mercy (Rah'matun). And (Wa) they (Humu) are those (U'laaika) who are
the guided (El'Muh'taduun).
.
📍Verse/Note:
2:157 Such are they on whom are their Lord’s blessings and grace. And it is those who have been rightly guided. [33:43, 33:56]
.
(Hajj Pilgrimage).
.
[2:158] Indeed (Inna), Safa (the hillock)
(Es'Sofaa) and (Wa) Marwah (the rock)
(El'Mar'wata) are among (Min) the
rituals of GOD (5:2) (Sha'ååiri-llahi). So (Fa) whoever (Man') makes a pilgrimage (Hajja) to the House
(El'Bai'ta) or (Awi) pays a visit (E'tamara), there is no (Falaa) blame on him (Junaaha Ålai'hi) to (An) walk
around them both (Yattawwafa Bi-himaa). And (Wa) whoever (Man) volunteers (Tatowwaå) well (Khai'ran),
then (Fa) indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is Grateful (Shaakirun) and Omniscient (Åliim).
.
📍Note-1
Abraham and Ishmael worked in the region of Mount Safa and Mount Marwah in Makkah, building the Ka’bah. There is nothing wrong in honoring such historical relics 2:177, 22:28. God has appointed the Ka’bahas the focal point for all humanity. And that is the real purpose behind the annual Hajjconvention and, when announced by the Islamic Central Authority, the ‘Umrah conferences. 2:148, 2:196,
3:96, 22:27. Khair = Good things = Acts of benevolence = Community welfare = Peace and security = Betterment in both lives = Selfless service.
.
📍Verse/Note-2
158 Through this struggle, the Divine System with the K aba as its designated centre will be
established. It is clear that this system will have to deal with numerous problems which will be
decided by mutual consultation of the Ummah (42/38). For this, congregational meetings like Hajj
and Umra, will be necessary. On these occasions there is no harm if certain traditional rites (e.g.
traversing the valley between Safa and Marwah) are also performed (provided these rites do not
clash with any principle of Deen). These rites should not be taken as the real purpose of the
meetings which is to move forward in activities relating to the welfare and betterment of humanity
(2/148). Moreover, sanctity should also not be attached to these rites or to the physical objects
associated therewith. They are merely symbols. The real object is to excel in doing good deeds for
the benefit of the people (2/148). So whoever takes part in these things whole-heartily, his efforts
will bring full fruit, because Allah s Law of Mukaf at also knows the intentions beyond plain
actions.(pz)
.
(Hiding the Truth/Gross Offense).
.
[2:159] Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) conceal (Yak'tumuuna) what (Maa) We have revealed
(Anzal'naa) of (Mina) proofs (El'Bayyinaati) and guidance (Wal' Hudaa), after (Min Ba'di) that (Maa) which
We have made clear (-Bayyannaa-hu) in (Fii) the Book (El'Kitaabi) to the people (mankind) (Lin' Naasi). Those
(U'laaika) are the ones whom (-humu) GOD (Ellahu) has cursed (Yal'ånu-), and (Wa) they are cursed by
(Yal'ånu-humu) the cursers (Ellaa'enuun),
.
📍Note-1
God has defined the objectives of the Hajj in this Book 22:28. Those who conceal the sublime purpose of these assemblies by making them senseless rituals, deprive humanity of a phenomenal blessing. La’nah = Condemnation = Rejection = Curse = Deprivation from grace. Laa’inoon = Those endowed with the sense of distinguishing right from wrong, and thus able to condemn. Related non-Qur’anic word, 'Al-la'een' = Scare-crow repelling the birds
.
📍Verse/Note-2
159 This then is the purpose of the Hajj. Whoever conceals this purpose which Allah has made
explicit in the Quran and make these assemblies mere rituals will be deprived not only of the
blessings which come as a result of following the Divine Code but also of the support of those
forces of Nature which could assist him in the achievement of his goal. (2/161).pz
.
.
[2:160] except (illa) those who (Ellaziina) repent (Taabu'), reform (As'lahu'), and (Wa) make it known
(Bayyanu'), then (Fa) those (U'laaika) are the ones whom (-hum) I (God) will forgive (Atuubu Ålai-), for (Wa) I
am (Anaa) the COMPASSIONATE (Et' Tawwaabu), the MERCIFUL (Er' Rahiim).
.
📍Verse/Note:
2:160 Except those who repent and reform and openly proclaim (the truth that they were hiding). To them I turn - for, I am the Acceptor of repentance, Most Merciful.
.
Taubah = Repentance = Turning to God = Returning to the right path. Salah = Corrective action = Reform = Making amends
.
.
[2:161] Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) disbelieve (Kafaru') and (Wa) die (Maatu') while (Wa) they
(Hum') are disbelievers (Kuffaarun), those (U'laaika) are the ones upon whom (Ålai'hum') is the curse of
GOD (La'natu-llahi), the Angels (El'Malaaikati), and (Wa) the people (En'Naasi) all together (Aj'maeen),
.
📍Verse/Note:
2:161 But, those who reject faith and die as rejecters, upon them is God’s condemnation, and of the angels, and of all mankind.
.
Condemnation of God = Deprivation of His grace. Condemnation of angels = Harm incurred for violating universal laws. Condemnation of mankind = Suffering at the hands of other nations.
.
.
[2:162] eternally (Khaalidiina) therein (Hell) (Fiihaa); the punishment (El'Åzaabu) will not (Laa) be lightened
for them (Yukhaffafu Ån'humu), nor (Walaa) will they (Hum') be respited (Yunzoruun).
.
.
[2:163] And (Wa) your deity (ilaahu-kum') is One (Waahidun) God (ilaahun). There is no god (Laa ilaaha)
except (illa) HIM (Huwa), the GRACIOUS (Er' Rah'maanu), the MERCIFUL (Er' Rahiim).
.
📍Note-1
It is only His laws that are operative in the entire Universe, and any nations falling in conflict with His laws will suffer ultimate self-destruction. 1:1, 6:45. Al-Ilah = God = The Sovereign = The One Worthy of service, obedience and worship = The Supreme Master. Ilah = Refers to the One True God = It also indicates a false god, depending upon the context.
.
📍Verse/Note-2
163 This occurs precisely as stated above since it is the Law of Allah that governs the universe
and it is His programme that all creation should receive means of nurture and advance from stage to stage (1/2)pz.
