[3:154] Then (Thumma) after (Min Ba'di) the distress (El'Gammi), HE sent down (Anzala) safe (Amanatan)
drowsiness (Nuååsaan) upon you (Ålai'kum), covering (Yag'shaa) a faction (Toa'ifatan) of you (Minkum'),
while (Wa)
another faction (Toa'ifatun) were already (Qad') concerned (Ahammat'hum') with themselves
(Anfusu-hum'), assuming (Yazunnuuna) about GOD (Billahi) other than (Gai'ra) the truth (El'Haqqi); the
assumption (Zonna) of ignorance (El'Jaahiliyyati), saying (Yaquuluuna), 🌹"Is (Hal) anything (Min Shai'in) of
(Mina) the matter (El'Am'ri) for us (Lanaa)?" Say (Qul'): 🍀"Indeed (Inna), the matter (El'Am'ra) belongs to GOD
(Lillahi) entirely (Kullahu)." They conceal (Yukh'fuuna) within (Fii) themselves (Anfusi-him) what (Maa)
they do not (Laa) reveal (Yub'duuna) to you (s) (Laka). They say (Yaquuluuna), "Had there been (Law' Kaana)
something (Shai'un) of (Mina) the matter (El'Am'ri) for us (Lanaa), we would not (Maa) have been killed
(Qutil'naa) here (Haahuna)." Say (Qul): "Had you been (Law' Kuntum') in (Fii) your houses (Buyuuti-kum'),
those (Ellaziina) the killing (El'Qat'lu) was decreed for them (Kutiba Ålai'himu) would have (La) gone forth
(Baraza) into (ilaa) their deathbeds (Madoajie-him')," so (Wa) that (Li) GOD (Ellahu) might test (Yab'taliya)
what (Maa) is in (Fii) your bosoms (Suduuri-kum') and (Wa) to (Li) purify (Yumahhiso) what (Maa) is in (Fii)
your hearts (Quluubi-kum'). And (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is aware of (Åliimu Bi) the essence (Zaati) of the
bosoms (Es'Suduur).

📍Note
I.e.,🍀 while it is for God alone to apportion actual success or failure to whomever He wills, "nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is [or "was"] striving for" (53:39).

5:50 Do they, perchance, desire [to be ruled by] the law of pagan ignorance?🌹But for people who have inner certainty, who could be a better law-giver than God?

Note🌹
By "pagan ignorance" (jahiliyyah) is meant here not merely the time before the advent of the Prophet Muhammad but, in general, a state of affairs characterized by a lack of moral perception and a submission of all personal and communal concerns to the criterion of "expediency" alone: that is, exclusively to the consideration as to whether a particular aim or action is useful or damaging (in the short-term, practical sense of these words) to the interests of the person concerned or of the community to which he belongs. Inasmuch as this "law of expediency" is fundamentally opposed to the concepts of morality preached by every higher religion, it is described in the Qur'an as "the law (hukm) of pagan ignorance"(as).

.
[3:155] Indeed (Inna), those who (Ellaziina) turned away (Tawallaw') from you (Minkum') on the day
(Yaw'ma) the two assemblies (El'Jam'ååni) met (El'taqaa), only (Innamaa) the devil (Es'Shai'toanu) caused
them to blunder (Es'tazalla-humu) for (Bi) some (Ba'di) of what (Maa) they had earned (Kasabu'). But (Wa)
GOD (Ellahu) has certainly (Laqad') pardoned them (Åfaa Ån'hum'). Indeed, GOD (Innallaha) is Forgiving
(Gafuurun) and Clement (Haliim).
.
📍Verse/Note:
3:155 Behold, as for those of you who turned away [from their duty] on the day when the two hosts met in battle - Satan caused them to stumble only by means of something that they [themselves] had done.🌾 But now God has effaced this sin of theirs: verily, God is much-forgiving, forbearing.

Note🌾
This is an illustration of a significant Qur'anic doctrine, which can be thus summarized: "Satan's influence" on man is not the primary cause of sin but its first consequence: that is to say, a consequence of a person's own attitude of mind which in moments of moral crisis induces him to choose the easier, and seemingly more pleasant, of the alternatives open to him, and thus to become guilty of a sin, whether by commission or omission. Thus, God's "causing" a person to commit a sin is conditional upon the existence, in the individual concerned, of an attitude of mind which makes him prone to commit such a sin: which, in its turn, presupposes man's free will - that is, the ability to make, within certain limitations, a conscious choice between two or more possible courses of action(as).

.
[3:156] O you (Yaa Ayyuha) who (Ellaziina) believe (Aamanu'), do not (Laa) be (Takuunu') like (Ka) those
who (Ellaziina) disbelieved (Kafaru') and (Wa) said (Qaalu') about (Li) their brethren (Ikh'waani-him') when
(Izaa) they travelled (Dorabu') through (Fii) the land (El'Ar'di) or (Aw') were (Kaanu') invaded (Guzzan), "Had
they been (Law' Kaanu') with us (Endanaa), they would not (Maa) have died (Maatu') or (Wamaa) gotten
killed (Qutilu')," that (Li) GOD might make (Yaj'åla-llahu) that (Zaalilka) a heartbreak (Has'ratan) in (Fii)
their hearts (Quluubi-him'). For (Wa) GOD (Ellahu) gives life (Yuh'yii) and (Wa) causes death (Yumiitu), and
(Wa) GOD (Ellahu) is cognizant (Basiiru) of what (Bimaa) you do (Ta'maluuna).
.
.
[3:157] And (Wa) whether (Lain) you are killed (Qutil'tum') in (Fii) the way of GOD (Sabiili-llahi) or (Aw')
died (Muttum'), the (La) forgiveness (Mag'firatun) from GOD (Minallahi) and (Wa) mercy (Rah'matun) are
better (Khai'run) than what (Mimmaa) they accumulate (Yaj'mauun).
.
📍Verse:
3:157 If you are killed in the cause of God or die, then forgiveness from God and mercy is far greater than all they can put together.
